Finals Day - Sunday 12th July
Jul 2, 2009, 6:48 amWe are hoping that the current fine weather will still be with us - or at least return, maybe a fraction cooler! - on Sunday 12th July.
The finals of all the main and plate competeitions will be on that day, so events will start at 11am with the intention of finishing with the Prizegiving ceremony at 6pm. Thanks to our Social Secretary Julie, food will be available for a small contribution throughout the day - please bring a salad or dessert if you can.
We look forward to a record crowd this year!
Wimbledon draw / Tea pot tournament, 17th May
May 20, 2009, 9:08 am
Congratulations to all those who were successful in the Wimbledon draw. Let's hope the sun shines and the new roof doesn't have to be deployed! Don't forget that the more of you who sign up to British Tennis (LTA) membership, the more tickets we will be allocated next year.
Over 20 enthusiasts participated in the Tea pot tournament, which was won by Schelay McCarter. Many thanks as ever to Steve Porter for organising this, and to Julie Kimberley for supplying the cakes and scones.

The sun shone last Sunday for Open Day - it was a lovely afternoon and many thanks to our Club Coach Steve for organising the annual Open Day Social Tournament which had about 25 participants.
Thanks also to all those members that helped to spruce up the clubhouse and the Juniors that are still helping to do the painting under the guidance of Mr Handyman Porter!
Traditionally we have tea and cakes on Open Day and thanks to all those members that contributed but especially to Gitte who actually baked a cake in the clubhouse! All cakes were enjoyed (more by some than others, eh Alan?) and it was a lovely start to the playing season at RLTC.
The Social Tournament was won by our "top man" Alan Paterson who won the most games of the men and shared by our "top ladies" Sue Warrington, Kim Henderson & Margaret Gibson who all finished on the same number of games won!
Well done everyone!

The Tournament is now well and truly under way!
The first round was completed in all competitions by Sunday 17th May, and Steve has now put up sheets with details of the next round of the main tournaments and also the Plates.
Steve is the tournament referee and his word goes ... if everyone abides by the tournament rules and gets their matches played within the deadlines then all will be peaceful - the responsibility to contact your opponent lies with the person "on top" of the draw, so don't leave it till the last day to contact your opponent as that is just daft! Remember also to check the calendar of events on the website to see if there may be a social tournament which will take up court space when you may have fixed to play a tournament round! It's not really that difficult if you plan - the tricky thing is trying to accommodate 4 peoples diaries in doubles so book your matches as early as possible to try to give yourselves a contingency plan. Remember also that bad weather is not an excuse not to play your match, there has been many a "monsoon match"!
On that note ... Enjoy!
